Bill Cosby is Not Cliff Huxtable

Rape accusations against Comedian / Actor Bill Cosby are like roaches. You kill one and more pop up.

Cosby’s dozen-plus accusers tell similar stories. They say after having a drink with Cosby, they felt drugged and confused concluding with him having his way with them.

The accusations have ignited responses of skepticism, shock, and disbelief from anyone that knows Bill Cosby.

Now I don’t know if Cosby did any of this or not. I will speak on a point that most people miss in this whole thing.

Bill Cosby is not Cliff Huxtable. Separate the actor from the character that is so embedded in our minds and a little of the shock from the accusations diminishes.

I’ve noticed a plethora of people refer to Cosby as “America’s Dad”. That’s not true. Cliff Huxtable can arguably vie for the title of “America’s Dad” but not Cosby.

Yes, it would be more unbelievable to rape accusations hurled at Cliff than at Bill. Think about it.

Cosby is an actor, comedian, and real life human being that may or may not have slipped unsuspecting women a “Mickey” in order to get some nicky-nicky. Moreover, one of his accusers said the very thing that would discredit her most. When asked why she waited so long to come forward she replied “He’s Bill Cosby”. Yes – he is Bill Cosby – a man who women throw drawers at – they did then and do now. A man one would think would not have to drug his woman of choice to partake in his pleasure of choice.

Anyway, the takeaway here is for all of us. Be careful what you joke about – it could come home to roost – whether it was reality or not – you say it – it can come back to bite you in the ass. Check out Cosby in a stand up routine doing a cut called “Spanish Fly,” a cut from his now-unfortunately titled 1969 LP It’s True! It’s True!
